Acro-Gear Bevel Gear Actuators

The Acro-Gear ASB series bevel gear actuators are available from Acrodyne – Designed specifically for heavy duty gate, globe and sluice gate valve operation.

The ASB series of bevel gearboxes are available in a large variety of sizes and configurations capable of driving a range of valves with operating torques ranging from just 220Nm all the way up to 42,000Nm. Added to this, is a large thrust capacity of up to 5450kN for the largest model, making it ideal for industrial valve applications requiring high torque, and thrust loads. All Acro-Gear ASB series have a standard enclosure rating of IP67 (temperature ranging from -20°C to 120°C) with an option of IP68 (ranging from -40°C to 400°C). Each unit is completely O-ring sealed, with the base and end cap being sealed by a non-asbestos waterproof gasket, to prevent any leakage.

External castings are produced using ductile iron to provide a combination of high strength and outstanding impact resistance, while a unique top entry stem nut system ensures the drive nut can easily be removed or replaced for maintenance without removing the entire gearbox from the valve. High strength aluminium bronze is used in the stem nut to provide excellent corrosion and abrasion resistance and dual locking nuts provide a jam effect for positive locking. Bevel pinions are precision cut and fully supported on deep groove ball bearings which provide excellent radial and axial support. Self-aligning radial and thrust spherical roller bearings provide anti-friction capacity and are high loading.

Acro-Gears bevel gearboxes are designed to suit almost any application requiring a rugged, multi-turn box capable of being operated via manual handwheel or electric actuator alike.
